To get an idea of what and where your trouble may be Autozone offers a troubleshooting guide. Find out what's wrong with your car using their troubleshooting guide. All you need to know is what the problem feels like, looks like, smells like or sounds like.

It may not be the best but it might get you in the right vicinity.
I put the FUN in dysfunctional!

Just tell her you are fixing it for someone and it is not yours and when they never show up to pick it up tell her you are keeping it for all of the work you put into it.
