StreetEXtremes.com is a supporter of SEMASAN

Two topics as old as time and discussed often. Some members are very passionate about these subjects. You can't be thin skinned if you are posting in here. Just a friendly reminder to keep it civil - no personal attacks. Come one, come all, lets talk about the most important subjects of all time - governments and churches. Everybody is welcome but please, no fist fights, no violence, nothing but healthy discussions and sharing of ideas. No doubt someone will take exception to your point of view.

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Action Network (SAN) is a nationwide partnership between vehicle clubs, enthusiasts and members of the specialty auto parts industry who want to protect their hobby. SAN was designed to help stamp out legislative threats to the automotive hobby and pass favorable laws. SAN regularly:
- Rallies the support of 3,000-plus car clubs, thousands of individual contacts, and 100-plus publications, with an estimated reach of 36 million enthusiasts nationwide, amplifying SEMA’s political voice on issues affecting the specialty equipment auto parts industry.
- Sends out action alerts to generate an abundance of responses to state and/or federal legislative actions and regulatory proposals.
- Issues timely updates of legislative and regulatory developments.

We just sent an emial to our state representatives in opposition of a proposed bill that would effectively prohibit the use of exhaust systems other than a “factory-installed muffler” or a “muffler meeting factory specifications” in Pennsylvania. The legislation is H.B. 471. We urge all enthusiasts to visit the SAN site and contact their represemtatives to oppose any legislation that will negatively impact our hobby.

To help in this effort, the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and the SEMA Action Network (SEMA's car club and individual enthusiast outreach program) offer a guide to becoming a more politically effective auto enthusiast community. Our goals are simple. For our way of life to survive, hobbyists must:

- Adopt a positive attitude about politics, politicians and government;
- Build strong relationships with elected officials;
- Educate elected officials and staff on the car hobby: who is involved and why we are important; and
- Become a positive, involved and vibrant part of our communities.

Most importantly, hobbyists must learn to work the system. Auto enthusiasts and clubs must learn to lobby.
